Connecting Advocacy and Action: Salesforce at the California Domestic Worker Coalition

The California Domestic Worker Coalition (CDWC) is a domestic worker–led, statewide coalition representing more than 300,000 domestic workers — including house cleaners, nannies, and in-home attendants. Founded in 2006, CDWC organizes for labor protections, economic justice, and dignity for immigrant women of color through legislative advocacy, grassroots organizing, and leadership development.

The Challenge

As CDWC’s reach and advocacy successes grew, so did the complexity of managing its relationships, program data, and reporting requirements. The organization’s challenges included:

  • Fragmented data spread across spreadsheets, Qualtrics forms, and various external tools.

  • Difficulty making exported survey data actionable for program and policy decisions.

  • Dependence on external consultants for data cleanup.

  • Inefficient and time-consuming invoicing.

  • No central platform for constituent and programmatic data management

The Solution

CDWC partnered with OneTenth Consulting to implement Salesforce’s Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) along with the Program Management Module (PMM). Key features included:

  • Centralized constituent and programmatic data management in Salesforce.

  • Integrated FormAssembly forms for streamlined monthly reporting

  • Reports and dashboards for real-time, actionable data.

The Impact

The new Salesforce platform is transforming how CDWC operates:

  • Unified Data – All constituent and program information now lives in one platform.

  • Time Savings – Actionable data is available instantly, eliminating hours spent cleaning spreadsheets.

  • Member Engagement – Improved reporting processes ensuring CDWC can respond faster to community needs.

  • Mission Alignment – Staff can focus more on advocacy, organizing, and supporting the base of domestic workers and organizers in California.

As a result, CDWC is better equipped to mobilize workers, influence policy, and track the real-world impact of its movement.

Looking Ahead

With the foundation in place, CDWC plans to expand program tracking to capture deeper advocacy and leadership development outcomes. They also plan to refine dashboards to measure impact over outputs, aligning with the organization’s long-term vision for worker justice.

“Working with CDWC has been a privilege. Their commitment to the dignity, rights, and leadership of domestic workers is deeply aligned with our own values. By centralizing their data and processes in Salesforce, they now have the tools to amplify their advocacy, deepen their relationships, and scale their impact — and that’s the kind of technology work that truly changes lives.”

~Throughout the process, the OneTenth team was responsive and thoughtful. They took the time to truly understand our needs, welcomed our feedback, and adapted at every stage to ensure the solution was tailored to us. We are deeply grateful for their partnership and recommend their expertise to any organization looking to streamline their data systems.
